The Kano State Police Command has arrested 83 suspected thugs during and after the Eld-el-fitri celebrations in the five Emirate Councils of the state.
The Acting Commissioner of Police, DCP Mu’azu Mohammed, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued by the Command’s Spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa, in Kano on Wednesday.
Mohammed said that the suspects were arrested between April 21 and April 25 during the Hawan Eid”, “Hawan Daushe”, “Hawan Nassarawa”, “Hawan Fanisau” and after the Eld-el-fitri celebrations.
“The suspects were arrested with dangerous weapons, robbed properties, illicit drugs and stolen properties” Mohammed said.
He commended the State Government, sister security agencies, traditional rulers and religious leaders, among other stakeholders for their prayers and cooperation that led to the peace being enjoyed in Kano.
The acting commissioner reiterated the command’s commitment in ensuring the security and safety of the people of the state.
“Criminals will have no hiding place in Kano State.They are advised to either repent or leave the state completely.”
He urged residents to continue to pray for the state and the nation as well as report incidents to the nearest Police station.
“Rigorous patrols, raids of criminal hideouts and black spots will continue throughout the state, as the command will sustain the ongoing “Community Policing Engagements” that are yielding positive results.
