Zaria has long been marked by a tragic and recurring phenomenon: flooding. The Kubanni River, which meanders through the city, has become synonymous with disaster, particularly in lowland areas such as Tudun Jukun and its surroundings. From my childhood, I have been acutely aware of the impact of these floods, which have claimed lives, destroyed property, and disrupted communities. T The Kubanni River has a storied history, one that intertwines with the lives of Zaria’s residents. For generations, the river has been both a source of sustenance and a harbinger of danger. Inuwa noted that Nigeria continues to face outbreaks of priority livestock diseases, which cause economic losses, reduce productivity, restrict trade, and trigger public health emergencies. He cited the recent cases of Anthrax and African Swine Fever as reminders of the need for stronger preparedness…

Environmental expert Dr. Murtala Mohammed also called for political commitment, noting that climate change…
A socio-political group, Concerned Lagosians, has advised the Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Seye Oladejo, to return to his home state, Oyo, and speak for his people instead of meddling in the political affairs of Lagos, particularly those concerning the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The group, in a statement issued on Thursday by its Secretary, Segun Adeyemi, described Oladejo’s recent remarks against ADC chieftain, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, as misplaced and hypocritical. Adeyemi noted that Oladejo, who was recently installed as Mogaji of his Ibadan family compound, is better positioned to serve the interests of his Oyo…
