By Samuel Owooso Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Wednesday, banned the operation of commercial motorcycles, otherwise called Okada, in six local government area of the state. The governor disclosed this while briefing heads of security agencies at the state house, Ikeja. According to him, the total ban on commercial motorcycles in the six local councils, will take effect from June 1, 2022 and would be fully enforced. The affected local councils include, Surulere, Eti-Osa, Lagos Mainland, Lagos Island, Apapa and Ikeja. The Director-General, Cross River State Primary Healthcare Care Agency, Dr Janet Ekpenyong has confirmed the death of seven children from cholera in the state. Ekpenyong, who confirmed the deaths in an interview on Wednesday in Calabar, said the agency recorded more than 600 suspected cases in the state between March and April. “Over 600 suspected cases were detected and we had a Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) conducted on them. By Lizzy Carr, Bauchi Thousands of internally displaced persons (IDPs) who escaped from insurgency in Marte and Jere in Borno and Yobe states, have now got means of livelihoods in host communities of Bauchi state. Many of the IDPs were settled on a piece of land provided by the wife of the former president, Mrs Maryam Abacha some 15 kilometers away from Bauchi town. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday launched its revised Gender Policy 2021-2026, as part of its commitment towards electoral inclusivity.
