The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has hailed the judgment of the Supreme Court of Nigeria for upholding the sanctity and constitutionality of hijab. A man, Hassan Olanrewaju, 19 and a housewife, Salewa Akinola, 25, were on Friday docked in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, for allegedly snatching people’s cell phones. The police charged Olanrewaju and Akinola, whose residential addresses were not provided with conspiracy and theft. A Mapo Grade A Customary Court in Ibadan has dissolved a 12-year-old marriage between one Kolawole Omotoso and his estranged wife, Badirat on grounds of infidelity and lack of love. Delivering judgment, President of the court, Mrs S.M. Akintayo held that she dissolved the marriage for peace to reign between the duo. Akintayo granted custody of the three children of the union to Badirat and ordered Omotoso to pay N20,000 as the children’s monthly feeding allowance. Kaduna state government has shut Holiday Conference Hotel in Kaduna for accommodating drug dealers and for failing to pay its statutory land lease for five years. Prof. Kabir Mato, Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology said in Kaduna on Friday that the hotel, shut on June 15, had become a centre for anti-social activities. Gunmen on Friday in Nsukka, Enugu State, killed a policeman and set ablaze patrol vehicles in two different police check points in the area. The policeman was killed in Umanu junction in Nsukka while the police patrol vehicle was set ablaze along Ibeagwa-Ani road in the area.
