Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike has reminded his Edo state counterpart, Godwin Obaseki that he did not take his bath for three days while in the state for the 2020 governorship elections. Obaseki had slammed Wike and described him as bully for attacking his deputy, Phillip Shaibu. The Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) in Delta has lamented the loss of over N30.4 million worth of paddy rice, and fertilisers to rainstorm in Asaba. The United Nations has warned that the already dire hunger crisis in Yemen was teetering on the edge of “outright catastrophe.” “The humanitarian situation in the country is poised to get even worse from June to  December 2022,” the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) said on Monday. Ukraine’s government continues to function, the banking system is stable and debt payments are viable in the short term, but the Russian invasion could plunge Ukraine into a devastating recession, the International Monetary Fund said Monday. According to the bank, the move is a critical milestone in its efforts to increase Africa’s share of global factoring volumes from its current level of about one per cent. Airline Operators in the country on Monday said they had only three more days to fly due to the high cost of aviation fuel. The CEO of Air Peace, who spoke on behalf of the operators, Allen Onyema said this during a public hearing by the House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the scarcity of aviation fuel in Abuja. The collapse of the national grid in Nigeria has thrown most parts of the country in darkness. This is contained in a terse statement by the spokesperson of Kaduna Electric Distribution Company (KAEDCO), Abdulazeez Abdullahi on Monday. According to the statement, “the national grid has collapsed, throwing most parts of the country into darkness. “We regret to inform you that the power outage being experienced in our franchise states is due to system collapse of the national grid which occurred at about 10:40am.” It however assured that power would “be restored as soon as the National Grid is powered back.”
