Eghobamien-Mshelia was elected in a keenly-contested election, held at the UN headquarters, New York, on Thursday. A total of 227 soldiers involved in the fight against insurgency within the Northeast of Nigeria have been brought before a General and Special Court Martial set up by the military, for various cases of misconduct. The Theater Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Christopher Musa disclosed this during the inauguration of a Special Court Martial to try 29 soldiers at the headquarters of the Theatre in Maimalari Barracks in Maiduguri, Borno State. The Police Command in Anambra, on Saturday arrested a 30-year-old man. Sunday Nwadiagha, for allegedly raping a 75-year-old woman. A statement by the spokesperson of the command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga on Saturday in Awka, said in collaboration with other security agencies, the suspect, who hailed from Eyiba area of Ebonyi, was arrested about 4pm on Friday, at Nkwelle Awkuzu community. The Organised Private Sector Exporters Association (OPEXA) has appealed to the National Assembly (NASS) to ratify the approval of the N375 billion Export Expansion Grants (EEG), for exporters. The N375 billion represents the backlog of the EEG from 2017 to 2020, whose payment was delayed due to budgetary constraints. The Federal Executive Council (FEC) recently approved the disbursement in form of Promissory Notes, which will become effective after the ratification by NASS.
