Retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme across the South-West zone have called for the payment of their pensions and other entitlements immediately after they disengaged from the public service. In separate interviews on Sunday in the zone, the retirees and other stakeholders said such payments would help in mitigating their hardship and also keep them active for more years before death. A bus crash in southwest China on Sunday killed 27 people, as police describes the incident as the country’s deadliest road accident so far this year. The accident took place on a highway in rural Guizhou province when the vehicle carrying a total of 47 people “flipped onto its side”, Sandu county police said in a statement published on social media. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said that a petroleum-laden tanker had been gutted by fire in Badeggi village, along Bida-Lapai road in Bida local government area of Niger.
