Enugu state government, has confirmed the outbreak of cholera at the new Artisan Market in Enugu metropolis. The Commissioner for Health in the state, Dr Emmanuel Obi, who confirmed this in a statement in Enugu on Saturday, said that the outbreak had so far claimed seven lives. Obi further said that 19 other persons had been discovered to be infected with the disease at the market. The US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Friday confirmed that a rare case of human monkeypox was detected in Texas, making it the first case of the virus seen in the state. The viral illness was found in a U.S. resident, who recently travelled from Nigeria to the US and is currently hospitalised in Dallas. The federal government and the International Fund for Agricultural Development Programme (IFAD) -Value Chain Development Programme (VCDP) will support  616 farmers with N26 million inputs in the 2021 wet season farming in Niger.
