A 35-year old Ms Blessing Emmanuel, has delivered a male baby under the Ajah bridge in Lagos. According to the Lagos State Emergency Managment Agency, LASEMA, its ambulance team at Eti-osa delivered Ms Emmanuel of the baby. The Director General of LASEMA Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, told newsmen on Saturday that the baby was delivered at about 4:30 p.m under the Ajah Bridge. “The lady, who has no home nor family in Lagos, is from Cross River State. “Mother and baby are fine and have been taken to Island Maternity where they will get expert care,” Oke-Osanyintolu said.

Eight persons were on Saturday night burnt to death in a lone accident involving a Mazda bus on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Mr Ahmed Umar explained on Sunday that the accident, which occurred at about 8:45 p.m. near Saapade bridge, was caused by tyre burst. This, he said, resulted in the bus summersaulting and bursting into flames. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has announced 189 new cases of COVID-19 infections in the country, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 57,145. The NCDC made this known on its official twitter handle on Saturday. “As at Sept. 19, 2020, 189 new confirmed cases and one death was recorded in Nigeria. “Till date, 57,145 cases have been confirmed, 48,431 cases have been discharged and 1,095 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory,” it said. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday released the results of the Edo governorship election of 13 local government areas of the state. The commission is expecting election results from the remaining five local government areas. The Resident Electoral Commissioner for Edo, Mr Johnson Alalibo, announced Prof. Akpofure Rem-Rukeh, Vice-Chancellor, University of Petroleum Resources, Effuru, Delta, as the Returning Officer to announce the results. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has alleged that there were plots by some paid agents to replace the Saturday Edo governorship election results where the party was leading, particularly in Edo North. In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan on Saturday, the party alerted the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Department of State Services (DSS) on the allegation. Some environmental advocates have called on the Federal and state gvernments to find alternative and innovative ways of ridding the environment of plastic wastes. The advocates made the call during a clean up exercise at the Bonny Cantonment, Victoria Island on Saturday in Lagos.
