The Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria says it plans to reward members of its academic staff who performed outstanding research and inventions to promote excellence in teaching and research in the university. ABU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabir Bala, said this during a meeting on the way forward for the institution’s Horticultural Garden. Relief has finally come on the way of commuters with the approval by the Federal government of the sum of N7 billion for the ‘urgent’ rehabilitation of the 46.3km Cham to Numan road. Doctors and nurses should  be reporters of sexual assaults to appropriate authorities, a rights campaigner, Mrs Bose Irosi, said on Friday. Ironsi, also a retired midwife, said in Lagos that doctors and nurses saw rape and other sexual assaults only as medical issues requiring medical attention without seeing the human rights angle. She spoke during training on sexual assault trauma management. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 151 new COVID-19, infections in the country. The NCDC made this known on its official twitter handle on Friday. The centre said that the 151 new cases brought the nation’s confirmed COVID-19 infection to 59,992. It stated that the cases were reported in nine states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, but no death was recorded. Consequently, the number of COVID-19 fatalities stood at 1,113.
