Nwajiuba made this known at the launching of Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) by Jigawa Government in Dutse. “With an estimated 10,193,918 children out-of-school, Nigeria has the highest number of out-of-school children in Sub-Saharan Africa. “For us to address these challenges adequately therefore, we must strengthen the quality of basic education in Nigeria by confronting head-on those factors that deny our children access to basic education,” the minister said. As the Hijab controversy rages on in Kwara state, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has called on stakeholders to call the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to order. Violence erupted on Wednesday at the Baptist Secondary School in Ilorin reportedly following the refusal of the school authorities to allow female Muslim students to use hijab. The World Health Organization (WHO) said in Geneva on Wednesday that some countries in the European Union (EU) temporarily suspended the use of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine as a precautionary measure. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported nine coronavirus-related deaths and 187 new infections on Wednesday. NCDC said in its official Twitter handle that the agency recorded two deaths on March 16, adding that the country had registered 2,027 deaths since the pandemic emerged in the country on Feb. 27, 2020. The country have tested 1,684,305 people since the first confirmed case of the disease.
