The District Head of Wawa in Borgu local government area of Niger state, Mahmud Aliyu has regained freedom. The District head was abducted on September 9, at his palace in Wawa, Borgu Emirate. A terse statement by Mary Noel-Berje, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor Abubakar Sani-Bello on Saturday, said he was released without payment of ransom.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has said that foreigners exempted from enrolling for the National Identity Number (NIN) in Nigeria, will now have to activate their Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) every six months for up to a period of two years. The Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal on Friday, ordered the Rivers government, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and the Attorney-General of the Federation to maintain status quo, pending the hearing and determination of applications before it in respect of the Valued Added Tax (VAT).
