The Bauchi State Ministry of Health says it has adopted the Task Shifting and Task Sharing (TSTS) policy to encourage utilisation of health workers towards enhancing healthcare service delivery in the state. Dr Samaila Dahuwa, the state Commissioner for Health, stated this during the dissemination of the revised TSTS policy on Thursday in Bauchi. The TSTS involves the rational redistribution of tasks among health workforce from highly qualified health workers to health workers with lower qualifications for effective service delivery. The Police Command in Niger has confirmed the killing of three people by gunmen who attacked the palace of the Emir of Kagara in Rafi local government area of the state. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Monday Kuryas, confirmed the incident in Minna on Wednesday. Gombe state governor, Inuwa Yahaya has called for more collaboration among security agencies in the state and North-East towards addressing security challenges in the region. The Ministry of Water Resources has declared nine additional local government areas Open Defecation Free (ODF), having met the requirements slated in the 2017 ODF Protocol for hygiene promotion. The local government area (LGAs) are Malumfashi, Kusada, Mashi, Batagarawa, Baure in Katsina State and Hadejia, Ringim, Malam Madori and Kiri Kasama in Jigawa. This brings a total of 71 out of the 774 local government areas in the country that are open defecation-free.
