The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Thursday, announced the postponement of its Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), known as eNaira, in view of the commemoration of the country’s 61st independence anniversary. The Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) has emerged first position at the 2021 National Freedom of Information (FOI) Compliance and Transparency Ranking, out of the 213 Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) assessed. According to the announcement on NIPC’s website, the parameters for the ranking were proactive disclosure, responsiveness in the request for information, level of disclosure, FOI training and timeliness. The Court of Appeal in Abuja has joined Lagos State as the third respondent in the legal battle between the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and Rivers. Rivers is the first respondent in the appeal in which the FIRS joined the Attorney-General of the Federation as the second respondent. The legal tussle is on who collects VAT between the federal and state governments. Centre for Fiscal Transparency and Integrity Watch, a non-partisan organisation, has ranked Ekiti state as the second among other states in transparency and accountability.
