European nations have confirmed dozens of cases in what’s become the largest outbreak of monkeypox ever on the continent, according to the German military. Researchers with the Federal University Dutse (FUD) have found that mosquitoes resistant to insecticide-treated nets were in Jigawa state, a statement by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Yahaya Bello made available to newsmen on Sunday, has said. The team leader of the study group, Prof. M. M. Dogara said the species of the mosquitoes were resistant to an insecticide called Primiphosmethyl. Some benefitting farmers of the $35 million Savannah Investment Programme (SIP) and the Savannah Zone Agricultural Productivity Improvement Project (SAPIP) of the African Development Bank (AfDB) in Tamale, Ghana have commended the projects. The farmers who spoke during the inspection of the projects by the bank in Tamale, Northern Ghana, on Sunday, said the intervention had transformed them from being smallholder farmers to commercial ones.
