The Bayelsa state government has faulted the federal government’s claim that the state is not one of the top ten states affected by the recent flooding recorded in many parts of the country. Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court Abuja has ordered an interim forfeiture of 40 landed properties belonging to a former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, who is currently in custody in the United Kingdom. Justice Ekwo made the order following an ex-parte motion by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). In a short ruling on the motion, the Judge ordered the anti-graft agency to publish the interim forfeiture order of the properties in a national daily within seven days from the date the order was given. A three-man panel of Judges of the Court of Appeal in Abuja, led by Justice Bature Isah Gafai, has dismissed an appeal filed by Baba Chado Kantigi claiming ownership of  House No. 10, Kinshasa Street, Wuse Zone 6, Abuja. The appeal was dismissed on Monday, October 31, 2022. Kantigi filed the appeal to claim ownership of the property linked to Liman Kantigi, a former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Niger state when Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu was governor. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday, arraigned Olasupo Shasore, Senior Advocate of Nigeria SAN, and former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Lagos state on  14-count charges bordering on money laundering to the tune of N159,700,000.00 and $60,000. The Northern Emancipation Network has lamented that despite the successes claimed by government, rampant attacks on rural communities in Kaduna state persist and people are still kidnapped at will on almost a daily basis. The Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday adjourned the alleged money laundering trial of former Governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, until January 31 and February 1. The case was earlier scheduled for continuation of trial on October 26, but could not proceed due to a mix up in the date, while a new trial date was to be agreed on by parties and fixed by the court.
