Stakeholders in Niger State have pledged sustained support for the newly commissioned Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) clinic in Niger State, with commitments to provide emergency drugs, medical equipment and technical assistance.
This would strengthen the healthcare services for personnel, their families and the host community.
The pledges were made during the commissioning of NSCDC Clinic in Minna.
Representatives of government agencies and development partners described the facility as a significant boost to healthcare delivery and emergency response.
The Executive Director of Niger State Drugs and Hospital Consumables Agency, Umar Ndaji, pledged the agency’s support with N100,000 worth of emergency drugs to support the take-off of the clinic in appreciation of the existing partnership between the agency and the command.
“We remain grateful for the support NSCDC has continued to provide in securing our facilities. Whatever support we receive from our development partners, we will continue to extend the same support to NSCDC because this clinic will benefit both the Corps and the larger community,” he said.
The Head of Operations, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Minna Operations Office, Hussein Isah described the facility as an important investment that would improve access to healthcare for NSCDC personnel and residents of the surrounding community.
“This facility is not only for the use of NSCDC personnel and their families but also for the host community. What is important now is proper maintenance, adequate staffing and continued support to ensure quality healthcare delivery,” Isah noted.
He added that the clinic could also serve as a referral facility during emergency response operations involving mass casualty incidents.
Branch Manager of United Care Healthcare, Kayode John, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to supporting the growth of the facility into a full-fledged hospital.
“We have to start somewhere. Our goal is for NSCDC personnel to have a sense of belonging by accessing quality healthcare in their own facility. With the right manpower and equipment, this clinic can become a model health facility,” he stated.
Speaking at the event, the NSCDC Niger State Commandant, Suberu Siyaka Aniviye, appreciated partners whose contributions transformed the Command’s former sick bay into a functional clinic.
He said the facility would improve access to healthcare for officers and reduce the challenges associated with seeking medical attention outside the Command.
“You have been serving humanity, and because of your intervention our personnel will no longer have to travel long distances before receiving medical attention,” the Commandant said.
Also speaking, the NSCDC Zonal Commandant for Zone 4, Commandant Nata’ala Mindai Baba commended Commandant Aniviye’s leadership, describing the establishment of the clinic as one of the achievements that would leave a lasting legacy.
“If you are able to provide water and healthcare, you have done something generations will remember,” he stressed.
