ASHENEWS reports that the Niger state government says it intends to establish 10 state-owned universities by 2027.
The state governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago stated this when he met with officials from Think Lab Group Limited at the Government House in Minna on Monday.
The governor who said that his administration remains committed to changing the educational landscape of the state said that the government will give priority to indigenes of the state in terms of admission.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Group, Think Lab Group Limited, Dr Said Kori explained that the group as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) was providing scholarships to 1,530 final-year students of public secondary school, with five of the best students selected from each of the 306 public schools.
“Out of the 1,530 recipients, Tjinklab Group is proud to sponsor 300 students for their full tuition fees upon gaining admission to specific. Courses at state-owned universities.
“This is to ensure that the most deserving and talented individuals are allowed to further their education.”
Kori announced plans by the firm to establish the Thinklab Centre for Construction Skills Acquisition in Suleja, Suleja local government area of Niger State.
“This underscores our commitment to creating more quality jobs and also serves as an opportunity for youth in the state, equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and expertise to thrive in the construction industry,” he said.
