ASHENEWS reports that the Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris has described his victory at the appeal court as a victory for democracy and the people of the state.
A statement signed by the Special Adviser (SA) to Kebbi State Governor on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki, said that the governor made the statement while addressing hundreds of party supporters who trooped to the Government House to congratulate him in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.
“Thank God for the victory before and now. We have witnessed another milestone as the court of appeal sitting in Abuja gave its judgment in favor of democracy.
“The Kebbi people have spoken from day one through their mandate to the APC and its candidates. This is due to their belief in God,” he said.
The governor who noted that he was optimistic that the judiciary would deliver justice said that justice had manifested itself.
“The victory has now given me renewed vigor to continue with the developmental projects already started in the state.
“We will deliver dividends of democracy, which is a must for us to deliver,” he said.
Idris re-echoed his invitation to the opposition across party lines to join the APC-led administration to give the best to the people of the state if they had the interest of the people at heart.
He further thanked the APC ruling party, the legislature, the state executive council, the Media, security agencies, and the teeming followers for their support, cooperation, and loyalty to his administration.
Earlier, in Abuja, the APC lead Counsel, Abdullahi Yahaya, SAN, described the verdict of the Appeal Court as good for our party.
“We are happy about it. On the whole, the judgment was in our favor because the appeal of PDP was dismissed.
“The judgment of the Tribunal was affirmed meaning that our clients were duly returned as governor and deputy governor.
“What informed the decision of the Appeal Court was that the appeal by PDP was lacking in merit,” he averred.
Meanwhile, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Yakubu Bala-Tafida, who spoke on behalf of the people of the state, expressed his happiness about the victory, saying the victory would reinforce the capability and ability of the governor to serve the people of the state.
