The Gombe government says it has targeted over 900,000 children for inoculation against polio in the November round immunization exercise.
The Director Disease Control in the state Primary Healthcare Development Agency stated this on Thursday in Gombe.
According to him, the children will be immunize against polio virus between Nov. 10 and Nov. 15 across the 11 local government areas of the state.
He said the exercise was designed to consolidate on the gains recorded sequel to the declaration of polio free status in the country by the World Health Organization (WHO).
“To consolidate on the gains and to ensure that the eradication remained so that we don’t have a resurgence of the virus, and also reach out to children partially immunized and those not immunized.
“I am appealing to parents to present their children, make them available during the four days of National Immunization Plus Days,” he said.
He also urged community and religious leaders to sensitize the people to promote participation in the exercise.
