ASHENEWS reports that the Niger state police command says it has arrested two suspects with 16 bags of Indian hemp.
The suspects, identified as Auta Umar Saidu 25 years and Mohammed Bala 52 years, according to the police were nabbed by its operatives at Mokwa, in Mokwa local government area of Niger state.
A statement issued by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun said that the suspects were attempting to ship the goods to Ndayako village before they were busted by the police.
“During interrogation, Auta confessed that he was sent by Bala to receive the bags from one Lawali who brought the items from Ondo state, and he took the delivery, while Lawali left back.
“Bala was later arrested and both confessed that the bags were for sale, and they have been into such business together for almost eight months,” the statement said.
Abiodun said that the suspects have already been arraigned in court for prosecution.
