ASHENEWS reports that the Niger state governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago says that the state government will match its funds with any investor willing to support the state’s agenda in developing its health sector.
To this end, the state government has urged all businesses and organizations in the state to step up in their response to their corporate social responsibilities.
Speaking when he received officials from the Islamic Development Bank at the Government House in Minna on Tuesday, Bago made a particular appeal to telecommunication companies in the country to fulfill their corporate obligations to their host communities.
According to him, the state government was open to partnering with investors to tackle high maternal and infant mortality in the state.
This situation, he said has been exasperated by the insecurity occasioned by the activities of bandits in some parts of the state.
“Since we are a riverine state, we have a lot of issues of malaria. We also have a lot of internally displaced persons (IDPs) due to banditry.
The Governor added that the state government was poised to uplift the socioeconomic status of the state.
