The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), has unveiled plan to redesign the association’s stamps in order to enhance its security features as well curb impersonation risks, a report by the General Secretary of the association, Adesina Adegbite at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) has revealed.
TheNigeriaLawyer reports that the NBA report also contains the following:
Record Stamp Applications: One of the standout revelations from Adegbite’s report was the staggering number of stamp applications received this year. Over 27,000 paid stamps and a remarkable 70,000 complimentary stamps were issued between August 2022 and August 2023. While this demonstrated the widespread use and demand for NBA stamps, it also underscored the urgent need to enhance security measures.
Advanced Automated Security: To address the rising concerns of impersonation and fake stamp usage, Adegbite introduced the NBA’s ambitious plan to redesign stamps. The redesign will incorporate advanced automated security features, ensuring that non-lawyers cannot acquire NBA stamps. This comprehensive makeover includes a digitized application process that will not only prevent unauthorized individuals from obtaining stamps but also streamline verification procedures.
Sample of Redesigned Stamp Displayed: During the presentation, a sample of the redesigned stamp was showcased, giving attendees a glimpse of the enhanced security features. This significant step forward aims to fortify the authenticity and integrity of NBA stamps.
Future Projects and Initiatives: Adegbite’s report extended beyond stamp redesign. He advocated for the creation of an NBA-owned guest house, a move that could substantially reduce accommodation costs for NBA officers. Plans to raise funds for the construction of this facility were discussed.
Additionally, plans were outlined for the establishment of an NBA House lounge, which will serve as a space for hosting guests and providing relaxation areas for members. Adegbite expressed the hope of commissioning this approved project in the near future and encouraged support and contributions from members.
Modernization and Member Experience Enhancement: In summary, the General Secretary’s report showcased the NBA’s commitment to modernizing stamp security, developing valuable real estate assets, and upgrading facilities for its members. These initiatives are aimed at bolstering protections, reducing costs, and enhancing the overall experience for NBA members.
