ASHENEWS reports that the Niger state governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has approved the sum of N3 billion as palliative to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy.
Bologi Ibrahim, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday.
Ibrahim said that the governor gave the approval in Suleja on Thursday at the end of a two-day retreat for Commissioners, members of the State House of Assembly, Special Advisers, Local Government council Chairmen and Heads of MDAs.
“He explained that each ward in Chanchaga, Bida, Suleja, and Kontagora local government areas are to receive N20m, while the remaining words in 21 local government areas are to get N10m each.
“The money according to the Governor, is to be used in purchasing food items at the Ward level for onward distribution to the people at the grassroots.
“He said a Committee will be set up in that regard for immediate implementation.”
Speaking further on the retreat, Bago maintained that every member of his government must be intentional about revenue generation in the interest of the general public.
He noted that all ideas proposed can only be actualized with the necessary funding.
He further urged participants to be proactive in revenue generation adding that, revenue is what the State needs to drive its developmental plans.
