ASHENEWS reports that an aviation fuel supplier, Octavus has denied allegations that it supplied contaminated aviation fuel to Nigerian airline, Max Air.
ASHENEWS recalls that based on several distress occurrences that involved Max Air’s Boeing B737 aircraft types, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), on Thursday last week, suspended parts A3 and D43 in the Operations Specifications of the aircraft type in its fleet.
Concerns were also that Octavus supplied contaminated aviation fuel to Max Air.
But in a statement by the company’s general manager, Octavus refuted the claims, emphasizing its commitment to product integrity and reputation, as well as adherence to international standards and industry best practices in fuel supply and distribution.
According to Octavus, it exclusively sources its products from trusted partners such as the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and British Petroleum (BP).
While stating that there was no evidence that linked the fuel supplied by it to the reported occurrences, Octavus emphasized its dedication to ensuring the safe and timely delivery of high-quality aviation fuels.
Disclosing that it successfully fueled approximately 90% of Max Air’s Hajj flights in the past without any issues, Octavus emphasized its extensive experience in handling a high volume of flights daily, with no reported complaints about the quality of its products.
It added that the company was nominated by the Airlines Operators of Nigeria (AON) to handle the NNPC intervention cargoes during a fuel crisis five times last year, which demonstrated the trust placed in their brand.
Acknowledging the complexity of aviation operations, Octavus highlighted the importance of conducting a comprehensive investigation to determine the root cause of the incidents, while expressing its full cooperation with the NCAA and other relevant authorities in conducting a thorough inquiry.
It further reiterated its commitment to the safety and quality of the aviation industry, ensuring that all its fuel products meet the highest standards.
“As a responsible corporate entity, we vow to leave no stone unturned in ascertaining the truth behind the allegations. We also pledge to work closely with regulatory bodies to uphold safety and integrity in the aviation sector.”
