ASHENEWS reports that an intending pilgrim identified as Amina Muhammad Damari was on Saturday confirmed dead by the Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency.
Ibrahim Shehu Giwa, the Special Assistant to the Executive Secretary of the agency disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday in Kaduna.
It was gathered that Amina, who came into the camp directly from the hospital to undergo the screening before departure had to be rushed back due to her deteriorating condition.
Unfortunately, she died before she could reach the hospital.
“Amina, with registration number KD 363, arrived at the Hajj Camp in Kaduna as part of the screening process before embarking on the holy pilgrimage. However, it was discovered that she was ill and had arrived at the camp directly from the hospital, evident by the presence of a cannula on her hand.
“Upon recognizing her condition, the medical team of the Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency promptly directed that Amina be taken to Barau Dikko Hospital in Kaduna for immediate medical attention. Tragically, during the journey to the hospital, Amina Muhammad Damari passed away,” the statement said.
The agency, while commiserating with the family of the deceased advised intending pilgrims to always prioritize their health.
“This unfortunate incident serves as a solemn reminder to all intending pilgrims to prioritize their health and well-being before embarking on the Hajj pilgrimage. We implore all prospective pilgrims to undergo thorough medical examinations and disclose any existing medical conditions to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage experience,” the statement said.
