ASHENEWS reports that the Sokoto State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has charged politicians, who emerged victorious during the 2023 general elections in Sokoto state, to allow public interest to override their personal interests.
A statement jointly signed by the Chairman, and Secretary, Dalhatu Abdullahi Safiyal Magori, Muhammad Nasir Bello, and made available to ASHENEWS in Sokoto on Wednesday, also Congratulated them on the victories.
According to the union, “the union urged those winners of the elections, to see public interest as their watch word, and not along party differences, in the interest of peace and development.
“We congratulate the governor-elect, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto and his running mate; the Senators-elect, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Ibrahim Lamido, other members of the National Assembly, and those of the State House of Assembly.
“The Council also commend the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security agencies for the success of the exercise in the state
“We equally appreciate the good people of Sokoto state for their cooperation and sense of maturity during the voting exercises in spite some few challenges,” the statement reads.
