The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Deputy Governor (FSS), Mrs. Aishah Ahmad, has restated the apex bank’s commitment to close the gender gap in financial inclusion by addressing the digital gender gap through innovation and technology.

She stated this when she hosted the virtual coffee table chat with the Senior Partner of TLcom Capital, Dr. Omobola Johnson.

Mrs. Ahmad also pushed for technological access & benefits for women, youth and rural dwellers to enable their participation in the digital economy.

On her part, Dr. Omobola Johnson, who is Nigeria’s pioneer Minister of Communications and Technology, enjoined policymakers to make STEM (science, Technology, Engineering and Math) more attractive to women/girls and grow women’s participation in the tech industry.

Dr. Johnson also canvassed for the establishment of special funds for female-led tech businesses to achieve greater participation of women in the digital economy.

Also, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Mariam Katagum, encouraged a focus on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) instead of just STEM, adding that women’s active participation in creative industry should be encouraged.
