#NigeriaDecides – At least, five persons were injured when Boko Haram terrorists fired several gun shots targeting voters from the Mandara Mountains in Gwoza, Borno State.
Gwoza is located about 103 km South from the restive capital of Maiduguri.
ASHENEWS gathered that attackers suspected to be from the camp of Ali Ngulde, of the Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād, a Boko Haram faction, carried out the attack when the voters were about to start casting their votes.
They injured five persons in the process, including two women and three males.
A security source, told Zagazola Makama, a Counter Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad, that the attack disrupted the voting process for some hours as the electorates scampered for safety with many injured in the process.
The sources said that the threat was quelled by the troops of the Nigerian Army who responded swiftly and chased the terrorists to the mountain. Normalcy was later restored as the people continued their voting.
Reacting, the Borno State Commissioner of Police, Abdu Umar, who confirmed the attack, said that the five people that were injured were taken to the hospital for medical attention.
