Troops of Sector 2 under the Multinational Joint Task Force(MNJTF) special operations have rescued five minors abducted by Boko Haram terrorists in Bargalam, in the Lake Chad Basin.
The five boys aged four to 15 are all said to be Cameroonian nationals abducted over two months ago in Djoungouni, Cameroon.
Receiving the children at Baagasola, in Chad Republic on Wednesday, the Force Commander, MNJTF, Maj Gen AK Ibrahim commended the collaboration which led to the rescue and subsequent handing over of the kidnapped victims.
Ibrahim was on a visit to the headquarters of Sectors 1 and 2 at Mora (CAMEROON) and Bagasola (CHAD) respectively to support the troops in the ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the Lake Chad Basin region.
Speaking on the successes achieved by the troops, Ibrahim said that the efforts of the troops have led to the return of internally displaced persons(IDPs) who earlier fled their homes to safer grounds.
The Force commander, while officially handing over tokens to representatives of soldiers who were killed in the line of duty as well as those who sustained injuries during operations Sharan Fage and Lake Sanity assured that the Nigeria Army remains committed to the welfare of its personnel.
The troops in their response expressed delight at the show of support by the Force Commander.
The force commander was received at the Force Headquarters Sector 2 Bagasola by the deputy Sector Commander Brig Gen Oumar Adoum Silick, while Col Tiokap Pierre Loti, Commander Sector 1 received him at the Force Headquarters in Mora.
Also, the children have since been handed over to the Commander Sector 1 upon arrival at Mora for onward delivery to their parents.
