ASHENEWS reports that Nigeria’s Senate President, Ahmed Lawan has been affirmed as the flagbearer for the Yobe North Senatorial District.
The supreme court ruling given by Justice Centus Nweze on Monday struck out Bashir Sheriff Machina’s earlier win at the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal, saying that the suit alleged fraud but did not provide oral evidence to back it up.
Recall that the All Progressives Congress (APC) earlier challenged the nomination of Machina as the party’s candidate for Yobe North Senatorial District.
The Federal High Court in Yobe had ruled in favor of Machina after which Lawan appealed the judgment at the Court of Appeal.
A judgment delivered in late 2022 ruled out Lawan’s suit saying it lacked merit.
