ASHENEWS reports that security operatives attached to Operation Forest Sanity in Kaduna State have killed three bandits.
A statement by the state commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, on Tuesday said the troops engaged the bandits after they were sighted around the Mangoro area, near Chikun, in the Birnin-Gwari local government area of the state.
The commissioner said that the development was one in a series of successful operations by the troops of Operation Forest Sanity, and added that the troops had earlier neutralized one bandit in a similar operation in Maraban Huda village, in the Igabi local government area of the state.
“A kidnapped victim was rescued, though injured by the bandits, and was rushed to the Jaji Cantonment Hospital for treatment. One motorcycle was recovered,” he said.
At Udawa-Manini, the commissioner disclosed that 15 persons were rescued following a foiled attack by the bandits.
“According to operational feedback, the troops responded to a distress call along the Udawa-Manini axis of the Birnin Gwari-Kaduna Road. The troops arrived to foil the attack, rescuing 15 persons in the process. Some of the rescued persons who sustained injuries were rushed to hospital for treatment,” the statement reads.
Aruwan further said that the troops recovered one AK47 rifle, one pump action gun, one Improvised Explosive Device, one Baofeng Radio, and 11 motorcycles during the three operations.
