“Lack of network coverage in core rural areas will not exclude those applicants there. In all local government headquarters, we have network coverage and we have made provision for them to come to their various local government headquarters and register”
As the National Population Commission (NPC) launches its online e-recruitment portal for the 2023 Population and Housing Census, the Federal Commissioner who represents Sokoto state, Chiso Dattijo Abdullahi has assured that applicants from core rural areas will not be secluded because of lack of network coverage.
He gave the assurance during the official launch of the e-recruitment portal in Sokoto on Thursday.
“Lack of network coverage in core rural areas will not exclude those applicants there. In all local government headquarters, we have network coverage and we have made provision for them to come to their various local government headquarters and register,” Dattijo stated.
According to him, it is important for members of core rural communities to register so as to ease the 2023 Population and Housing Census exercise.
“Let me assure the people of Sokoto state that the bulk of personnel for 2023 census will be drawn from the communities where they are resident. This will remove the huge logistics of moving personnel across the local government areas and every community will have the opportunity of contributing to the census workforce thereby ensuring that the people are adequately counted,” he further stated.
ASHENEWS reports that while interested applicants are expected to apply into the following categories, Facilitator, Training Centre Administrators, Monitoring and Evaluations Officers, Data Quality Managers, Data Quality Assistants and Supervisors and Enumerators, the recruitment exercise would last till December 28th.
Dattijo assured that the commission and would continue to be fair and transparent as the census approaches, adding that the commission in the state would continue to collaborate with traditional institutions to ensure smooth conduct of the exercise.
He expressed the commission’s appreciation to the governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad for their support towards the successful conduct of the 2023 Population and Housing Census.
