The State Coordinator of USAID Nigeria Health Workforce Management Activity, Roberts Nature said the project is aimed to strengthen pre-service health system and improve quality of training of Nurses and Midwives, who will be used to bridge the workforce gap in rural areas.

According to Nature, the project has helped the college of Nursing Sciences to develop a five-year strategic plan that will help in the implementation of its programs.

He urged Bauchi State to introduce e-learning classrooms to facilitate easy learning while improving on the capacity of tutors.

The coordinator added that the state needs to maintain the accreditation status and work towards full accreditation of all courses been offered at the college.

The USAID Nigeria presented 210 classroom chairs to Aliko Dangote College of Nursing Sciences, while the Bill and Melinda Gates College of Health Technology Ningi and ATBU Teaching Hospital got skills laboratory equipments, including adult skull, eye model, ENT diagnostics sets, Skeleton and Doll and pelvic among others.

Receiving the items, the permanent secretary, Bauchi state Ministry of Health, Ali Babayo said the donation is strategic to the development of skilled human resources for health in the state.

He noted that government had renovated and constructed new structures in the colleges, adding that the chairs and equipments will facilitate learning and teaching in the institutions.

Babayo commended the Health Workforce Management Activity for the gesture.

Provost Aliko Dangote College of Nursing Sciences Rukkiya Saleh said the donation came in handy and most of the classes are without chairs.
