A presidential aspirant in the forthcoming 2023 general elections, Chief Kennedy Fintan Nnaji has condoled with the families of those who lost their lives in the recent bandit terrorists attack on Abuja-Kaduna bound train.
Nnaji, in an exclusive interview with ASHENEWS on Friday, also sympathized with victims injured during the attack.
The Japan-based Nigerian business mogul and chief executive officer (CEO) of Nahfkenn Associates Plc. Japan (Rare metal Recycling); Nahfkenn Japan-Nigeria Direct Inc; Nahfconnects for Africa and the World Inc Japan (IT startup) also called on Nigerian government to be more proactive in the protection of the lives and property of citizens.
“I am most touched by the unfortunate but avoidable incident. I join other Nigerians in grieve for the loss of lives of our brothers and sisters in the train attack. I also sympathies with those injured during the attack,” the presidential aspirant said.
According to him, Nigerian government can do better by being more proactive and sincere in its fight against terrorism.
He added that government should employ modern technology in fighting banditry, which has remained unabated for more close to 10 years.
“Fighting current terrorism calls for the use of modern technology. Ordinary weapons cannot win this war. Nigeria should seek foreign intervention in this fight. We cannot do it alone. We should call for technologically-advanced countries to help us,” he said.
Nnaji observed that the insurgency and banditry is no longer minor, especially having attained the stage it is now, adding “government should keep its promise of protecting the lives of the people and no amount of resources should be seen as too much to do so.”
He further observed that all Nigerians, regardless of their location in the country, were not safe but threatened by terrorists.
“Nigerians, regardless of social class are threatened; families, women, children and even our animals are not free. Our security system can no longer measure up to the threats.”
The aspirant called on president Muhammadu Buhari to check the hydr-headed problem of physical insecurity, food Insecurity that is in form of poverty.
“Act now Mr President. Our country is bleeding. Poverty has struck our people and there is no food; Our people are hungry, insecurity is threatening us. The time to act is now.”
