A stalwart of All progressive Congress (APC) in Zamfara state, Sani Shinkafi has chided supporters of former Governor Abdulaziz Yari for boycotting ward congresses in the state.
Dr Shinkafi who addressed press conference on Sunday in Gusau said the court had not stopped congresses.
He debunked media reports that reported parallel ward congresses in the state.
“As far as I am concerned, there is no APC faction in the state; the ward congresses was conducted and it is over. We have done it and it is concluded.
“Our ward congresses is genuine and constitutional. There was no parallel ward congress apart from the one organized by the recognized party structure in the state”.
Shinkafi further explained that there was no court order that stopped them from holding the congress.
He said Senator Kabiru Marafa faction does not exist because there was agreed reconciliation.
“After nine months, Marafa has come to say there is faction which I believe is not in existence in the state”.
According to him, Marafa faction of the APC did not exist any more. “Who is his factional state chairman? Shinkafi asked.
He stressed that Yari held joint reconciliatory meetings with most of the members of the defunct G8 in Kaduna and Abuja.
“How would Marafa’s faction play with the intelligence of their uneducated followers?c
Recall that a statement by the chairman APC Publicity Committee of Yari faction, Ibrahim Birnin-Magaji on Saturday, called supporters to shun the ward congresses in the state.
“You know, we have court order that stopped the party congresses pending the determination of the Court on the dissolution of the state party executives by the National Caretaker Committee of the APC.
“Our leader, Abdul’aziz Yari has directed all APC members in the state, under the APC caretaker committee led by Lawal Liman to boycott the ward, local government and state congresses organised by Governor Matawalle’s APC faction holding today, Saturday, November 13, 2021,” the statement had read.
