The Bauchi State House of Assembly, on Wednesday, passed the State Assembly Fund Management Bill, 2021.
In his motion for the passage of the bill, the Majority Leader, Mr Tijjani Aliyu, described the bill as crucial for efficient utilisation of legislative funds.
According to him, when assented to, the bill will enthrone accountability and transparency in the management of the assembly’s fund.
“The bill will empower the house to manage its capital and recurrent expenditures.
“It will also create the needed administrative structure to facilitate effective implementation of financial autonomy in the house,” he said
Also speaking, the house’s Minority Leader, Mr Bakoji Bobbo supported the motion, describing the bill as capable of enthroning efficiency in legislative business.
Following a voice vote, the house unanimously adopted the motion for the bill to undergo the third reading.
The Speaker, Mr Abubakar Sulaiman, directed the Clerk of the House, Umar Gital, to carry out the third reading and transmit the bill to the governor for assent.
In another development, the house on Wednesday received a message from Gov. Bala Mohammed withdrawing Sama’ila Burga’s name from the list of commissioner nominees before it.
The house also directed its Committee on Rules and Business to produce a timetable for the screening of the commissioner nominees beginning from Aug. 24.
