Former president Olusegun Obasanjo is currently meeting behind closed-door with Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi in Abeokuta, Ogun state, Desert Herald reports.
The meeting is perceived to be over the security situation in the country, with particular relation to Fulani helmsmen criminality.
“Gumi is said to be worried over recent happenings in the South West where northerners, especially the Fulanis and their possessions were attacked.
“His visited Obasanjo as a critical stakeholder and respected elder statesman, to discuss and to brief him on his recent mission to Fulani bandits with the hope that government will understand the situation better and adopt his suggestion as the best possible way of ending the crisis.
Sheikh Gumi is also of the opinion that the current fragile situation in the South West if not tackle, is capable of instigating reprisal attacks in the North.”
