The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has fully restored its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), following a temporary disruption that affected the platform during the ongoing 2026/2027 admission exercise.
With CAPS now operational, the Board has directed tertiary institutions to accelerate their admission processes and recover time lost during the disruption. Candidates who receive admission offers have also been advised to promptly accept them through the platform.
JAMB maintained that the approved admission deadlines remain unchanged. Public universities are expected to conclude their admission processes by October 31, 2026, private universities by November 30, while polytechnics, colleges of education and other tertiary institutions have until December 31, 2026.
The Board also urged candidates who had been awaiting their 2026 National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination results to upload or verify their results promptly. JAMB said this would ensure that the candidates’ credentials are available for consideration as institutions intensify their admission activities following the restoration of CAPS.
The temporary CAPS disruption was announced on September 24, with JAMB attributing the problem to technical challenges associated with the platform’s hosting arrangements. CAPS serves as the central platform through which tertiary institutions process admission recommendations, and candidates monitor and respond to admission offers.
JAMB said it regretted the inconvenience caused by the disruption and appreciated the patience and understanding of candidates, institutions and other stakeholders, while urging all parties to take advantage of the restored platform and adhere to the approved admission timelines.
