The National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) has donated 55 planting machines to farmers in Plateau State.
Mr. Abubakar Yelwa, the Managing Director of the commission, represented by Mrs. Ruth Essien, Deputy Director of Finance and Administration, presented the items to the beneficiaries on Wednesday in Jos.
Yelwa said the items were distributed to farmers from Bassa, Barkin Ladi and Bokkos Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.

He added that the gesture was aimed at supporting the Federal Government’s food security drive.
“In March this year, power tillers were distributed to farmers across the three LGAs of Plateau that host N-HYPPADEC facilities.
“Today, we are here again to distribute these planters to farmers across the three LGAs.
“This is to boost farming activities and food security in the country,” he said.
Yelwa also seized the opportunity to sensitise Plateau residents on measures needed to avert flooding in their communities.
He called on residents to keep their environment clean and desist from building on waterways.
