Oniru of Iruland, Oba Omogbolahan Lawal, Abisogun II, reaffirmed his commitment to the Let’s Grow Iruland Together (#LeGIT) vision, aimed at developing an Iruland that is Lagos-aligned, environmentally sustainable, globally competitive, innovation-driven, and technology-enabled.
Lawal made this statement on Sunday in Lagos during the sixth anniversary of his coronation.
He said the vision is designed to foster a resilient, economically vibrant, and inclusive kingdom for both current and future generations.
“Our goal is to build an Iruland that is Lagos-aligned, environmentally sustainable, globally competitive, innovation-driven, and technology-enabled. We are committed to creating a resilient, economically vibrant, and inclusive kingdom,” he stated.
Lawal called for unity, collaboration, and innovation among stakeholders, emphasizing that much work remains to be done to advance the kingdom’s development.
“While we celebrate our achievements, we recognize that there is still much to do. I urge all stakeholders to continue embracing unity, collaboration, and innovation as we develop our kingdom. The story of Iruland is still being written, and I am confident that our best chapters lie ahead,” he said.
He thanked God, his ancestors, the people of Iruland, and stakeholders for their support since his ascension in 2020.
Reflecting on his six years on the throne, Lawal noted progress in cultural preservation, institutional strengthening, community development, and economic growth.
“Through strategic partnerships and a clear development agenda, we have positioned Iruland as a hub of culture, enterprise, innovation, and sustainable urban growth,” he stated.
He also appreciated the Lagos State Government, traditional rulers, members of the Oniru-in-Council, chiefs, elders, community leaders, residents, and development partners for their contributions.
He acknowledged the support of his wife, Olori Mariam Lawal, and his family throughout his reign.
The event attracted clerics, dignitaries, traditional rulers—including the Oba of Lagos—senior police officers, and other guests.
Various groups and associates paid tribute to the ruler through presentations.
Colleagues from Cadet ASP C/19/1996 of the Nigeria Police Force congratulated Lawal on the anniversary, commending his contributions to Iruland’s development and wishing him continued wisdom, good health, and strength.
The celebration included prayers, Quranic recitations, cultural performances, music, dance, and other social activities.
