The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has declared that Nigeria is too great to be intimidated by insurgents.
Mrs Tinubu made the remark on Saturday at the Government House in Ado-Ekiti during a meeting with members of the Ekiti State Traditional Rulers’ Council.
She expressed appreciation to the people of Ekiti, particularly Governor Biodun Oyebanji and his wife, Olayemi, for their warm reception.
The First Lady also thanked the traditional rulers for their support for her husband during the last presidential election.
According to her, President Bola Tinubu is working tirelessly to curb insecurity in the country. She acknowledged support from foreign countries in tackling Nigeria’s security challenges and expressed optimism that the situation would soon improve.
Mrs Tinubu, however, urged Nigerians to remain prayerful, assuring them that God would not fail the country.
She was accompanied by the wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima. The First Lady also canvassed support for a second term for Governor Oyebanji.
Mrs Tinubu gave N100 million as a Business Recapitalisation Grant to 2,000 female petty traders in the state, with each woman receiving N50,000 to help support their families.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Ekiti State Traditional Rulers’ Council, Oba Adejimi Alagbado (the Ogoga of Ikere-Ekiti), commended President Tinubu for his leadership style. He recalled the president’s transformative tenure as Governor of Lagos State and urged him to tackle the nation’s current security challenges.
The First Lady’s entourage included the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, and the APC National Women Leader, Dr Mary Idele. Wives of governors and other APC chieftains were also present.
