The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr Mariya Mahmoud, has been named “Minister of State of the Year”.
The minister received the award on Friday night at the 6th edition of the Accolade Yellow Ball and Awards held at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.
The event, organised by Accolade Dynamics Ltd, celebrates excellence in leadership, entrepreneurship, and public service.
Mahmoud was recognised for her contributions to policy execution, sector reforms, and effective service delivery in the FCT Administration. The award also acknowledged her efforts in governance and community empowerment across the territory.
While receiving the award, Mahmoud thanked the organisers, saying the honour “reflects the collective commitment and hard work of the Nyesom Wike-led FCT Administration.”
She added that the recognition would inspire her to continue contributing to the development and transformation of the FCT in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Leadership is fundamentally about service, commitment, compassion, and creating opportunities that positively impact citizens,” she emphasised.
The minister dedicated the award to the resilient people of the FCT, particularly women, youths, and community leaders, whose support and partnership have strengthened the administration’s resolve to deliver impactful governance.
She commended the organisers for sustaining a platform that promotes excellence, integrity, innovation, and outstanding public service, noting that “recognising hard work and dedication is vital to building a culture of accountability and national progress.”
Mahmoud also called on Nigerians to remain united and committed to nation-building, peace, and sustainable development, especially as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.
At the same event, the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, received the Minister of the Year Award, while businessman Summy Francis was named Entrepreneur of the Year.
