The Kano State Government says plans are underway to establish a new Institute on Water, Sanitation, and Health in the state.

This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday in Kano by the Ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Farouk Ghali-Masanawa.
Stakeholders Meet
Ghali-Masanawa quoted the State Commissioner for Rural and Community Development, Dr. Abdulkadir Abdussalam, as speaking after chairing a stakeholders’ meeting on the proposed institute.
First of Its Kind
According to the commissioner, the institute, when established, will be the first of its kind in the country.
Abdussalam commended stakeholders for their support and cooperation toward achieving the initiative’s objectives.
Support Assured
He assured that the ministry would continue to provide the necessary logistics for the committee to develop practical solutions to challenges in water, sanitation, and health in both urban and rural communities.
Broad Participation
Earlier, the Managing Director of the Kano State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA), Shamwilu Abdulkadir-Isa, said the meeting was attended by representatives of the Kano State House of Assembly, academia, and the ministries of health and local government affairs.
Focus on Solutions
He added that stakeholders contributed to discussions on the proposed institute and strategies to improve water, sanitation, and health service delivery in the state.
