An Ilorin-based educationist, Godwin Adebowale, has called for improved health facilities in schools to enhance student safety.
Adebowale, the proprietor of Stars Nursery and Primary School, made the call in an interview with reporters on Saturday in Ilorin.
He said many schools lack basic health facilities and first-aid equipment needed to handle student emergencies.
According to him, some schools are not investing adequately in first-aid services and other essential health facilities required to respond to students’ health challenges.

“Both public and private schools must have the necessary health facilities because they are dealing with children.
“Injuries are bound to happen, and students can suddenly fall ill while in school.
“Without basic first-aid facilities, the situation can become critical before the child is taken to a hospital or clinic.
“Providing health facilities is a sacrifice that must be made in all schools. We cannot ignore it if we truly care about the safety of our students,” he said.
Adebowale urged governments at all levels, education stakeholders, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to invest more in school health facilities to ensure student safety.
