The Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) has admitted 3,717 students into its science-based faculties and colleges, out of a total of 6,505 students admitted for the 2025/2026 academic session. This highlights the growing interest in science, technology and health-related programmes at the institution.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Bashiru Garba, disclosed this during the university’s matriculation ceremony held at the S. A. S. Galadanci Convocation Arena on the main campus in Sokoto on Wednesday, where the newly admitted students formally took the oath of studentship.

According to the breakdown, the Faculty of Chemical and Life Sciences recorded the highest number with 1,146 students, followed by the Faculty of Physical and Computing Sciences, which admitted 777 students.
The College of Health Sciences, which comprises five faculties and two schools, admitted 822 students, while the Faculty of Engineering and Environmental Design admitted 396 students.
Other admissions include 306 students in the Faculty of Agriculture, 150 in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and 120 in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
Speaking to the new students, the Vice Chancellor congratulated them on securing admission, noting that gaining a place at the university was the result of hard work and determination.
He urged them to remain focused on their academic goals and to uphold the values of discipline and integrity throughout their stay at the university.
Garba also encouraged the students to take advantage of the opportunities available on campus, including research facilities, well-equipped libraries and mentorship from lecturers.
“Your time here should be a period of discovery, learning and personal growth,” he said, while advising them to participate in extracurricular activities and develop leadership and teamwork skills that would prepare them for life after graduation.
