The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has commenced bulk waste evacuation at Alaba Rago along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway.
The Managing Director of LAWMA, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, confirmed this in a statement released to reporters on Sunday in Lagos.
Gbadegesin said the agency deployed carriers, loaders, and personnel to clear illegal dump sites and restore environmental standards along the busy corridor.
He added that the exercise would extend to Okokomaiko and the median around Lagos State University, which have been identified as priority sanitation locations.

Gbadegesin noted that the operation would progress from Agric Bus Stop toward Mile 2, ensuring a systematic clean-up of the entire corridor and improved public health conditions.
He described the exercise as part of LAWMA’s sustained sanitation framework, which includes regular monitoring, stakeholder engagement, public sensitization, and stronger enforcement against indiscriminate dumping.
The LAWMA boss urged residents, traders, and motorists to comply with waste disposal regulations and support government efforts to keep Lagos cleaner.
