The Association of Resident Doctors, Federal Capital Territory (ARD-FCTA), has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, for approving the payment of 13 months’ outstanding hazard allowance owed to its members.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by Mr Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communications and Social Media.
Olayinka said the association, in a letter of appreciation dated Jan. 15, also praised the minister for the payment of a one-month wage award to resident doctors in the territory.
The letter, signed by the ARD-FCTA President, Dr George Ebong, and the General Secretary, Dr Yusuf Lissa, described the intervention as “timely” and said it underscored the minister’s commitment to equity and fairness.
The association lauded Wike for his dedication to the welfare of health workers in the FCT, describing his actions as a demonstration of exemplary leadership.
The doctors further commended the minister for recognizing the sacrifices made by doctors and other health workers in the course of service within the FCT.
“Our association remains committed to constructive engagement and collaboration towards advancing the FCT health sector and ensuring the continued delivery of quality healthcare services to residents,” the letter said.
