The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall across several southern states from Wednesday, November 5 to Friday, November 7, 2025.
The statement states that the affected areas include Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa, Abia, and Delta States. The forecast also reflected that other parts of the country will experience light or no rainfall from Novermber 5 to 7th.
The agency’s release cautioned of likely strong winds accompanying the rains, urging members of the public to avoid driving through surface runoff waters, as such areas may have strong undercurrents.
NiMet further warned of other possible hazards such as slippery roads, reduced visibility during rainfall, and falling trees or weak structures that could pose risks to lives and property.
Residents are also advised to disconnect electrical appliances before and not during rainfall, while those in flood-prone areas are encouraged to remain vigilant and follow updates from the agency while assurance was given that no significant hydrometeorological hazards are anticipated in areas outside the forecast zones
The statement categorised the expected rainfall probability as moderate, with warnings that some locations may record between 10mm and 30mm of rain within 24 hours, with the emphasis that the advisory is part of its commitment to safeguarding lives and property through timely weather updates.
