The National Orientation Agency (NOA) on Thursday called on tertiary institutions in Katsina State to meet the necessary requirements to enable students to access the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) smoothly.
The appeal was made by NOA’s State Director, Muntari Lawal-Tsagem, in a statement to newsmen issued by the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Malam Mustapha Labo.
Lawal-Tsagem said that institutions could facilitate students’ access to the fund by completing the required online registrations that link them to NELFUND’s online portal.

He noted that the call became necessary due to non-compliance with registration requirements by some institutions, warning that failure to comply could deny students the opportunity to apply for the loan.
“The students’ loan scheme is part of the ‘Renewed Hope Initiative’ of President Bola Tinubu, designed to ease the financial burden on parents and allow students to focus on their studies,” he said.
Under the scheme, tuition fees are paid directly to the institutions, while a monthly upkeep allowance of N20,000 is provided to each student.
Lawal-Tsagem also urged leaders of student unions to encourage their members to apply for the loan to take full advantage of funds made available by the Federal Government nationwide.
